Dignity at work by Dr Pauline Rennie-Peyton
Workplace bullying is not new, yet it is only since the last few years that it is being discussed openly in the workplace, in the press, and in the courts. Bullying is a specific and insidious form of harassment that exacts a high price from both the victims and the corporations that employ them.
Victims stand to lose their health, their self-esteem, and even their careers. Organizations that don't stamp out this behaviour are putting their productivity, profits, and reputations on the line.
Pauline Rennie Peyton's primary motivation in writing the book, Dignity at Work, was to give people in organizations a fast track to dealing effectively with bullying behaviour. It's user friendly and practical, and designed as an accessible resource for professionals who are trying to obliterate this highly undesirable behaviour.
Drawing on her own experience and following her methodology she talks to readers directly and conversationally on main subject areas that include:
- Identifying bullying at work
- Policy writing and implementation
- Investigating bullying
- Effective techniques for resolving bullying
- Sample dignity-at-work policy
- Creating an in-house strategy to deal with bullying
- The role of outside counsellors and psychologists
- Tools for psychologists to transfer their skills to organizations
